Change in the Incidence of Malignancies of the Fomale Genital Organs During Recent 9 Years

Abstract
A clinical analysis was made on 301 cases of malignancies of the female genital organs and gestational trophoblastic disease from January 1, 1986 to December 31, 1994 to find the changing trend of their incidence at Inha University Hospital.
@ES The results were as follows:
@EN 1. Among 301 cases, the incidence of invasive cancers of the cervix(60.8%, 183 cases) was most common, followed by the ovary (17.6%, 53 cases), gestational trophoblastic disease (17.3%, 52 cases), the endometrium(2%, 6 cases), the fallopian
tube(1%,
3 cases), the vulva(0.6%, 2 cases) uterine sarcoma(0.3%, 1 cases) and the vagina(0.3%, 1 cases) in order of frequency.
2. Most of invasive cervical cancer were squamous cell carcinoma. Adencarcinoma of the cervix was found in 5.5%.
3. The numbers of cytologic screening showed gradual yearly increase.
4. The incidence of invasive cervical cancers was decreased since 1990.
5. the peak age of cervical cancers was found in 40 to 49 years.
6. Invasive carcinomas of the cervix were staged by FIGO classification. Stage I was found in 55.7%, stage II in 38.3%, stage III in 4.4%, stage IV in1.65 respectively.
7. The incidence of endometrial carcinomas was significantly lower than that of cervical cancers.
8. Ovarian carcinoma was the second most common malignancies, and the peak age was 6th decade.. In frequency of histologic clssification, epithelial origin was most common.
9. Trophoblastic disease was similar to the incidence of ovarian carcinoma, and the peak age groups was 20 to 29 years and most of them were benign.
